Nilfisk was founded in 1906 by Danish visionary Peder Andersen Fisker in a small Copenhagen backyard workshop. Driven by a passion for technology and innovation, Fisker, along with colleague Hans Marius Nielsen, produced small state-of-the-art electric motors. In 1910, they introduced the C1, Europe’s first electric vacuum cleaner, marking a defining moment for Nilfisk and the professional cleaning industry.
Over the years, Nilfisk expanded internationally, established production facilities in multiple countries, and developed groundbreaking products, including The Silent Dane vacuum in 1932 and the iconic G70 in 1958. From these early milestones, Nilfisk committed itself exclusively to professional and domestic cleaning solutions, continuously innovating with products such as the first wet and dry vacuum in 1962.
Landmark Innovations & Global Expansion
In 1969, Nilfisk vacuum cleaners were used by NASA to remove dust from space shuttles. The company grew further with acquisitions, including Gerni, Advance Machine Company, CFM, ALTO Group, and Viper, strengthening its global presence and mid-market offerings.
Nilfisk has always been committed to innovation and intelligent cleaning, pioneering autonomous solutions through the Horizon Program and launching the Liberty SC50, an autonomous scrubber, in 2019. These milestones cement Nilfisk as a global leader in professional cleaning technology.
