Role Overview

Seldram Supplies is a fast-growing, family-run distribution business supplying over 3,000 SKUs across cleaning, hygiene, paper, catering disposables, machinery, and general consumables.


We are looking for a Senior Buyer to play a key role in strengthening supplier relationships, improving buying performance, and protecting margin as the business continues to scale.


This is a commercially influential role with real ownership, working closely with senior leadership and operational teams to embed smarter and more consistent buying practices across the business.


What You Will Be Doing

Buying and Supplier Management

  • Manage relationships with a portfolio of key suppliers

  • Support and participate in supplier negotiations on pricing, terms, and rebates

  • Assist with tenders, supplier consolidation, and range rationalisation

  • Represent Seldram within the Quattro buying group

  • Monitor supplier performance and address cost or service issues


Pricing and Commercial Performance

  • Support pricing management across product categories

  • Identify opportunities for margin improvement and cost recovery

  • Assist with managing supplier price increases and mitigation plans

  • Support new product introductions and product lifecycle decisions


Stock and Supply Chain Performance

  • Work closely with Stock Controllers to maintain effective stock levels

  • Help optimise replenishment cycles and stock parameters

  • Identify slow-moving or aged stock and support exit strategies

  • Improve stock availability while protecting cashflow


Data, Systems, and Process

  • Maintain accurate supplier pricing, lead times, and product data in the ERP

  • Support invoice reconciliation and pricing discrepancy resolution

  • Produce and review buying and stock performance reports

  • Help embed consistent procurement processes and controls


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Sales, Warehouse, Finance, and Admin teams

  • Support Sales with product knowledge and commercial insight

  • Escalate strategic or high-risk issues when required

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives


What Success Looks Like in the First 12 Months

  • Contributing to a 4 percent or greater improvement in buying performance

  • Supporting recovery of pricing leakage and rebate opportunities

  • Reducing aged and slow-moving stock

  • Bringing structure and consistency to buying decisions

  • Reducing day-to-day reliance on senior leadership


About You

Experience

  • Proven experience in a buying or procurement role within wholesale, distribution, FMCG, or similar

  • Experience managing multiple suppliers and product categories

  • Exposure to pricing, margin, and stock control


Skills and Attributes

  • Strong commercial awareness and numerical confidence

  • Confident negotiator and relationship builder

  • Experience leading or mentoring others

  • Strong Excel skills and ERP experience

  • Organised, pragmatic, and data-led

  • Ambitious and keen to progress into a senior commercial role
